Vari-Speed, belt driven, back geared, screw cutting, bench mounting, centre lathe – 89mm (3.1/2″) centre height x 475mm (18.3/4″) or 780mm (30.3/4″) between centres, with Headstock spindle bored 26mm to clear 25.4mm (1″) and incorporating a safe reversing feature. The spindle nose is precision bored and ground 4MT. Imperial model with 10TPI cross slide and top slide feed screws and nuts, inch graduations on the tailstock barrel and leadscrew handwheel; or Metric model with 2mm pitch cross slide and top slide feed screws and nuts, metric graduations on the tailstock barrel. The bed is cast in grade 240 iron.
The machine is fitted with a countershaft clutch unit. A plain taper front headstock bearing supports the spindle in radial loading, while a pair of angular contact ball races at the rear provides support for axial loads. The spindle nose is threaded M42.5 x 2mm pitch. An indexing plunger can be engaged with the 60T bull wheel to provide simple indexing of the spindle, up to 120 divisions. Variable speed spindles from 26-3000rpm (When using Variable speed) are achieved in three distinct speed ranges, by a two speed drive from countershaft to headstock spindle and a back gear reduction. Both primary and secondary drives are fitted with Poly-V belts. All drive guards are secured with ¼” turn latches opened by a special square drive key.
This machine features power carriage / power cross feed (facing), a tee slotted cross slide, and the top slide swivels 360°. Both cross slide and top slide feed screws are fitted with adjustable micrometre dials.
The speed controllers come supplied with a new 1HP 220V AC three phase induction motor (5/8″ shank with keyway), Together with the inverter drive this gives a possible speed range 175 – 1800RPM.
The AV series lathe speed controllers are supplied with 1.5 metre mains cable, fitted with a moulded 13A mains plug, and the motors come supplied pre-wired with with 1.5 1.5 metre lead that plugs straight into the bottom of the inverter box. There is no wiring to be done, no guess work and the speed controller is ready to go.
