About Us

RDG Tools was started up in 1992. We started exhibiting at model engineering exhibitions in 1994 and realised from the shows that people wanted quite specialised tooling for their machines and also a wide range of tooling which they could adapt to suit their needs. Our growth led to the need for larger premises so in 1997 we moved to Hebden Bridge . Now in 2008 we have moved again to a 7,000 sq/ft industrial outlet in Mytholmroyd, again bigger and better.

Some of our visitors call us the Aladdin’s cave of the north because of our wide range of top quality new and used engineering equipment including machines of all sizes. We sell a wide range of engineering products serving both model engineers and well established engineering companies. Our extensive range of tools include those made by some of the best manufacturers in the world such as Dormer, Sandvik, SKF, Presto and many, many more.

In April 2003 the business started trading as RDG Tools Online to cater for both UK and International sales. RDG Tools Online supplies to the trade and direct to customers. We have two direct channels to market, first of all direct from this website, secondly mail order, Now moved into the large industrial outlet above in Mytholmroyd.

We are well known both at the model engineering shows and at our premises in Mytholmroyd (near Halifax), West Yorkshire in England. Whether you have a small home workshop or you run a large engineering company we’re sure you will find something of interest. We operate a fast and efficient international mail order service for all of our products.

Making A Purchase

Buying online with RDG Tools is very simple. Just browse our Catalogue, click on any items that you wish to buy and add them to your shopping basket. Once you have finished your selection, click on “view basket or checkout” and you will be asked for a few details that we need to be able to compete the order.

Ordering is now completed by WooCommerce and they are level 1 compliant and 100% safe and secure. This means you can now pay with the following methods Credit cards, Debit cards, Paypal, Apple pay & Googlepay. 

We accept credit card payments, and payments by paypal. If you are shopping from outside the UK, place your order and your credit card company will convert the transaction to your local currency. or pay using paypal, were you can transfer money direct in a number of currencies.</p.

Shipping And Handling

Due to the volume of parcels we ship we have negotiated special rates with our couriers. We have many international customers, recent destinations have included: United States, EU, Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Brazil, Canada, Scandanavia, Peru and Cyprus. 

  1. In the UK: We would generally ship low value parcels of less than 20 kilos with Royal mail Tracked48, We would ship anything higher value from 5-60 kilos with Fedex UK using there 1-2 working day service, Anything heavier or bulky would go with Paletways which is a 2-4 working day service.
  2. In the EU we will generally ship via royalmail or DHL Express depending upon weight.
  3. Outside the EU: We would use Royal mail for the smaller lighter items then DHL express for everything else.

Delivery Schedule

Provided your goods are in stock and ordered before our 2pm cut off time then we aim to process and ship the same day. We ship most parcels via Royal mail & Fedex Monday to Friday, If your consignment misses these cut-offs it will ship the following working day.

In the UK you can expect to recieve the goods whithin 1-3 working days. For shipments outside the UK contact us for more precise information, typically 3 to 7 days in the EU and 7 to 15 days in the US (via Airmail). Back Orders

If your item is not in stock, we will back order for you. You will always be emailed within 24 hours and the option to cancel your order if you would rather not wait.

Tax Charges

For orders made from the UK 20% VAT is added at checkout. All orders outside the UK are VAT free.

Vouchers

Any vouchers purchased or given have a 12 month expiry from the date purchased so any vouchers used after this time will not be valid and subject to cancellation.
Please be careful when entering the unique code because it can only be used once.

The information we collect

In order to provide you with an efficient service following your enquiry, we collect certain personal information about you. Cookies are used on this shopping site to keep track of the contents of your shopping cart once you have selected an item, to store delivery addresses if the address book is used and to store your details if you select the ‘Remember Me’ Option. Cookies are small files we can send to your browser and which are stored on your computer’s hard drive. The computer will store an identifying code in the Cookie which means you do not need to type in your address each time you place an order. In order for a Cookie to be used in this way, you must enable it by ticking the box on the relevant page. Returns Policy

Any customer can return their purchase within 7 working days after receipt of the goods, providing that the product has not been used and remains in it’s original unopened manufacturer’s packaging . Returned goods which do not adhere to this will be rejected. Customers will be refunded for their purchase less the return delivery charges incurred in the transaction. The 7 day period does not start until the day after receipt of the goods by the customer.

Please note any items returned that are errors made by the customer can incur a 10% restocking fee. For example if you order 10 of a item by mistake and only wanted one the 9 items returned will incur a 10% restock fee which will be deducted from the refund.

Due to recent paypal regulation changes any Paypal refunds that are out of our control will have a 3% Paypal fee deducted from the total order value including shipping and VAT.

WEEE Regulations

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive is now UK law. The legislation aims to make producers pay for the collection, treatment and recovery of waste electrical equipment. The regulations also mean that suppliers of equipment like high street shops and internet retailers must allow consumers to return their waste equipment free of charge.

The amount of WEEE we throw away is increasing by around 5% each year, making it the fastest growing waste stream in the UK. Much of the UK’s WEEE ends up in landfill, where the lead and other toxins it contains can cause soil and water contamination. This can have a harmful effect on natural habitat, wildlife and also human health. Many electrical items that we throw away can be repaired or recycled. Recycling items helps to save our natural finite resources and also reduces the environmental and health risks associated with sending electrical goods to landfill. Distributors of new Electric and Electronic Equipment (EEE) have a part to play in reducing the amount of WEEE going into landfill sites.

RDG Tools Online is obliged under these regulations to offer our customers free take-back of their WEEE on a like-for-like basis when they buy a new Electrical or Electronic product from us.

For example, if a customer bought a new EEE (ie a small compressor) from us we would accept their old WEEE (compressor) and prevent it going into a landfill site by disposing of it safely. Customers must return their WEEE item to us within 28 days of purchasing their new item. “The customer YOU will pay all shipping cost’s for returning the item to me for disposal”. Under the WEEE Regulations, all new electrical goods should now be marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol.

Discount terms and conditions-

Please note discount code 12769 will not work on anything we deem as a branded item such as Books, Presto & Proxxon etc: it will also not work on vouchers of any value. The Multi buy discount we offer will work on any product apart from vouchers and anything that will have to be shipped on a pallet or is 2nd hand. We reserve the right to cancel any discounts at any time.
